For contribution to the academic development in the field of materials and fracture mechanics by publishing several academic papers related to "Development of Nanoscale Field Projection Method and Dual-Mode Cohesive Zone Law for Analysis of Atomic-Scale Mixed-Mode Intergranular Fracture".
The KSME Yudam Research Excellence Award was established in 1999 with the aim of "selecting and rewarding those who have made outstanding contributions to the academic development in the field of materials and fracture engineering" and has been awarded since 1999 from the fund donated by the former Chairman, Dr Sam Hong Song (HO: Yudam).
